Trees for Children offers sustainable solutions in reducing the causes of global climate change through the planting of trees and teaching of children about environmental stewardship. We are a part of both local and global movements that are leading the way in restoration ecology and carbon sequestration using permaculture understandings and applications. Our work restores the land and provides youth with hands-on learning opportunities to embrace sustainable living skills and a conserver ethic that leads to multi-generational stability and resilience for generations of children. Join us today by supporting our work in planting forests for life.
You can take responsibility today for your lifestyle through the planting of the trees that were used in the construction of your home or business, or to offset the carbon imprint of the miles you drive, or by giving to a family member, friend or co-worker the ultimate green gift, a tree planted sustainably in one of our restoration and education projects.
Your tax deductible contribution supports our plantings of mixedspecies forests as a part of our international demonstration projects for forest restoration and watershed revitalization.
When there are trees for children there is clean air to breath and water to drink, a more stable climate, and a landscape that is vibrant, nourishing and beautiful. In North America, there are just three-percent of old growth forests left for the future generations to live and flourish amongst. This has caused great instability in the global climate both environmentally and socially…which ultimately affects us all.
At our Quail Springs Learning Oasis and Permaculture Farm, we are experiencing record heat waves and cold spells nearly every year. There has been large scale devastation of California’s agriculture due to the extreme fluctuations. Many farmers have lost their crops for several years now and the climate seems to be getting more erratic. When we talk with others around the country we are hearing similar stories of extreme unpredictable weather events and their impacts and how there has been no similar precedence of such vagary in the weather cycles in known history. As most of the experts in weather analysis and climatology agree, there will not be a singleperson (or species for that matter) on the planet who will not be affected by human created climate change. Yet we know that the solutions are also at hand and within the scope of the creative and cooperative nature of human beings. We believe (and hope) that human action can be more positive on the earth than negative when we live in integrity with the the resources that sustain us.
These solutions involve a change of relationship with the land and how we model sustainability to our children. Whether it is replanting the trees used in the construction of your home or honoring a friend by giving them the gift of having a tree planted in one of our restoration projects, together we can become a tangible part of the solution toward nurturing our planet into health for generations to come.
