Planting Forests for Life
planting1.jpgTrees for Children, a non-profit organization, along with many concerned people like yourself are regenerating forests that have long been cut down…yet these forests have not been forgotten and their possibility lives on in each and every one of us. Forests are like the lungs of the planet. They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. They build valuable nutrient rich soils, generate rain, remove toxins from the air, help rain percolate into the groundwater, slow erosion, provide habitat for birds and other wildlife, and are a basis of life for all species. The healthy forest is also a primary mitigating factor in reversing the trends we are now seeing in the global climate change crisis we are facing today.

Our unique tree planting program is a vital part of our forest restoration demonstration and research program. We use natural water harvesting techniques, mixed species tree plantings, weather windows, and tree protecting strategies to help ensure healthy growth of the forests we plant. Our work is helping to create permanent and diverse forest systems that bind carbon, build soil, slow water and wind created erosion, produce oxygen, and provide important habitat for native flora and fauna. All of this in an effort to bring balance the climate both locally and globally.learning1.jpg

If you or your group or school would like to participate in planting trees, learning about and gaining experience in restoration ecology, we offer various venues to do so.
